Searches at Florești District Hospital: several institution employees under investigation by NAC and prosecutors for corruption and influence trading
The National Anti-corruption Centre (NAC) and prosecutors from the Bălți Municipal Prosecutor's Office are conducting criminal investigations into a corruption case targeting several employees of the Public Medical and Sanitary Institution "Florești District Hospital", suspected of passive corruption and influence trading.
According to the case materials, the head of the Hospital's Consultative Department is suspected of having demanded and received money from patients and other beneficiaries for the issuance of urgent medical referrals to republican medical institutions, sick leave certificates, as well as certificates necessary for the extension of a gun permit. At the same time, the senior nurse from the same department is being investigated for influence trading. She allegedly demanded, accepted and received money from candidates and drivers, claiming that she could influence the members of the Medical Examination Commission for Drivers of Vehicles to issue favourable conclusions regarding driving ability, without properly conducting medical examinations.
As part of the special investigative measures, other criminal acts committed by employees of the institution were documented, with 11 more distinct criminal cases being initiated, later being connected to the main file.
This morning, the NAC officers and prosecutors searched the homes and work offices of the targeted individuals, including: the head of the Consultative Section, two nurses, a neurologist, the chief accountant of the Florești Family Physicians Centre, as well as other individuals who were beneficiaries of the medical services under investigation.
At this stage, the searches continue, and the targeted individuals are being investigated at large. The NAC and prosecutors are to establish all the circumstances of the case.
