Two cases of influence peddling in the issuance of driving licenses, detected by the NAC and prosecutors from Balti and Chisinau. One person was detained
The National Anti-corruption Centre (NAC) and the prosecutors of the municipalities of Chisinau and Balti have announced the documentation of two cases of influence peddling in the issuance of driving licenses, as a result of which one person was detained. The investigations concern the alleged influence on doctors, employees of driving schools and representatives of the driver examination commissions within the Public Services Agency (ASP) for which illicit financial means were allegedly collected and received.
In one case, it concerns a resident of Ialoveni district who, claiming to have influence over doctors within the IMSP "Ialoveni District Hospital", responsible for examining candidates for a driving license, could determine them to issue the medical certificate, in the absence of the candidate, in exchange for illicit remuneration. Subsequently, the suspect allegedly promised that he could influence decision-makers of a driving school to issue the training certificate, without the candidate's presence, and for successfully passing the driving license exam, he also demanded illicit money - a total of 1,450 euros. At the moment, the suspect is being held for 72 hours and is in the custody of the NAC.
In another case, two men, originally from the municipality of Chisinau and the city of Rezina, claiming an alleged influence on civil servants from the Driver Examination Department of the Public Services Agency (ASP), allegedly demanded and received from another person 20,000 lei of undue money. In exchange for the illicit remuneration, the suspects allegedly promised that they could influence public figures from the ASP to issue the driving license without the candidate passing the theoretical and practical tests. Following the searches carried out by the NAC officers, important documents for the criminal case were discovered and seized, and the persons are being investigated at liberty, with the attribution of the procedural status of suspect in the commission of the corruption offense.
We note that all actions take place under the procedural leadership of the prosecutors of the municipalities of Chisinau and Balti.
